On 21 March 2012, the Moscow Synodal Choir conducted by Alexei Puzakov and the Tchaikovsky Large Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev performed the second version of Metropolitan Hilarion’s “St. Matthew Passion” Oratorio for reader, soloists, choir and orchestra in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire. Metropolitan Hilarion read the texts from the Gospel.
Before the performance, the archpastor addressed the listeners. He told them about our Lord’s Passion, Death and Resurrection and called them to thank the Lord for His becoming lonely so that we do not feel lonely, but ‘in all sufferings and trials that befall us could feel that the Saviour is with us to the end of the age.’
