Родился 29 января 1934 г. в Чикаго.

Член "Общества Иисуса". С 1965 г. - священник.

В 1954-1966 гг. обучался в Университете Игнатия Лойолы (Чикаго), где последовательно получил бакалаврскую магистерские степени по философии и теологии.

В 1967-1970 гг. обучался в магистратуре "Библикума", в 1970-1974 гг. - в докторантуре.

В 1987-2008 гг. преподавал в "Библикуме", с 2008 г. - в  Университете Игнатия Лойолы (Чикаго).
